The health and safety of our participants at CAG2022 (the Conference) remains our highest priority. To that end, CAG seeks to minimize the risk of infection exposure, specifically COVID-19 and its variants, by establishing health and safety protocols.

Please be sure to review these protocols before registering for the CAG2022 conference. You will be asked to agree to the waiver outlined below when registering.

These health and safety protocols may be modified at any time by CAG based on its professional judgment about how best to protect the health and safety of Conference participants. Such changes will consider guidance from the Public Health Agency of Canada, emerging scientific evidence, and existing conference rules and CAG policy. CAG will set its own protocols based on the aforementioned input.

CAG requires each individual planning to attend the in-person Conference to agree to the following:

  • All Conference participants (including exhibiting staff) must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before entering the Conference.
  • Details about the verification process are forthcoming and will be updated here and shared via email communication with registered in-person attendees when available.
  • Given the highly contagious nature of COVID-19 and its variants, CAG will not allow unvaccinated individuals to attend the in-person Conference, including those who are unvaccinated with proof of negative COVID-19 test results or with existing exemptions in other forms.
  • The Government of Canada defines “fully vaccinated” as:
    • have received at least 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine accepted for travel, a mix of 2 accepted vaccines
      • or at least 1 dose of the Janssen/Johnson & Johnson vaccine
    • have received your second dose at least 14 calendar days before you attend the conference
    • have no signs or symptoms of COVID-19
  • Participants are encouraged to be up-to-date with their COVID-19 vaccinations (ie, ‘boosters’) before attending the Conference.
  • Participants will be required to wear masks in the Conference Center and indoor Conference-related event spaces. Masks may be removed at your own risk when speaking on stage or when eating and drinking.
  • Conference participants are expected to leave the Conference space if they have knowledge of exposure, have a temperature or are experiencing COVID-like symptoms. Such individuals should seek immediate medical attention.
  • Each country has its own travel restrictions as does the Government of Canada. Additionally, some airlines have their own prohibitions that apply to international travel. Individuals who plan to attend the meeting from outside Canada should check the latest guidance from the Government of Canada as well as review the website(s) of the airline(s) they are using.

A Conference participant’s failure to follow all CAG Conference health and safety requirements may result in loss of entry to the Conference and Conference-related events, including forfeiting paid registration and/or fees and access to future CAG events.

CAG may change the above protocols at any time. It is the responsibility of Conference registrants to regularly check the CAG Conference website and carefully read all CAG Conference-related correspondence, electronic or otherwise, that may include updates about CAG Conference and Conference-related health and safety protocols.

Waiver of Liability for Individuals Registering for CAG2022

I assume the sole risk for traveling to and participating in CAG’s Conference and Conference-related activities in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, October 20-22, 2022. I (and on behalf of my heirs and successors) hereby waive and release, covenant not to sue, discharge, and hold harmless the Canadian Association on Gerontology, its employees, agents, and representatives, of and from any such claims, including all liabilities, actions, damages, costs, or expenses of any kind arising out of or relating to COVID-19 or any other communicable diseases and/or pandemics (including for quarantine, isolation or delay) because of travel to or participation in the CAG Conference and/or Conference-related activities.

I acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and accept sole responsibility for the risk of exposure or infection by participating in or traveling to the Conference and Conference-related events, and that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, disability, and/or death to me, and/or others with whom I have contact. I understand that the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 to and from and during and after the CAG event(s) may result from the actions, omissions, or negligence of others who may participate in the Conference and Conference-related activities, or visitors, vendors, presenters or others with whom they may have had contact.

In addition to all other rules and regulations relating to my participation in the CAG event(s), I agree to comply with all COVID-related policies and procedures that may be established by CAG, the Conference Center, and the hotel in which I’m staying, including, but not limited to mask-wearing requirements.

I further understand that I have the responsibility to protect others. Therefore, I agree to not attend the CAG Conference or Conference-related activities if I feel ill or had recent exposure to a COVID-19 case. Moreover, I will immediately stop participating in the CAG event(s) if, once at the Conference, I have a temperature, am experiencing COVID-19-like symptoms, or have been exposed to an individual with COVID-19.

I have read the COVID-19 Regulations for CAG2022; I understand the Regulations; and I agree to abide by the Regulations.
